New Years Resolution – Fluent in Spanish – Tips and Ideas on Learning a New Language

  • Sharebar

As we start moving into the new year I am starting to set my resolutions and goals. The first of these is to move from an average Spanish speaker into fluency. In order to hit this goal I must always have a big reason why and mine is to be able to converse with all my family and friends in Colombia. That may not be specific or big enough but I have a game plan. When I don’t want to study I will think of all those uncomfortable times when I couldn’t communicate what I wanted to say. That should be enough for me to push through those lazy moments which we all have and why I teach find that big reason why.

The key to learning a new language of becoming fluent is to find a system of attainment that works for you. For me I love to read and I also like to listen. My chosen format is books, audios, some computer software and practice with my family. The practice aspect is one of the most important tools in learning any language, especially when going for fluency.

These where initially CD’s that I copied over to my Sony Micro Disc player. I have all three units of 90 lessons on 11 mini discs. I am going to work through these one a day. They are about 30 minutes long and work with repetition and speaking out loud. It is the only thing I actually use the Sony Micro Disc player so it will finally get some use. Sony dropped the ball on that one but that is for another blog post.

To supplement this learning on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays I am going to be doing Fluenz Spanish. I originally purchased the “little red box” lastFluenz year and have 2 Units of 60 lessons. This is a software that is Mac based and uses software to build vocabulary and sentence structure. I will be spending another 30 minutes to 1 hour with each of the 60 lessons with Fluenz.

Finally on Fridays, I have a few books that I will be using. Spanish Verb Tense, Easy Spanish Step by Step, Spanish Grammer for Independent Learners, and Complete Spanish Grammar. These workbooks will have me writing out the Spanish that I am learning which is important when trying to become fluent.

I have a few trips planned to Colombia which will aid me immensely in this goal. There is only one thing that really puts language learning over the top and that is total immersion. I am really looking forward to my trips down South this year as learning experiences. It is always good to learn the language but even better is to learn the language and the culture. I can’t think of a better place then Colombia.

I know that 2011 is going to be an amazing year and I will be using this blog to detail some of the ideas and thoughts that I have on personal issues and items. I am all about social proof that when you go after you goals you can hit them. Especially, when you are using a proven system like MoringCoach.com. The MorningCoach.com system is amazing and every person can learn and become better by using it. Take it day by day and put good energy out there and you too can hit your new years resolutions.
